Jonathan Rhys Meyers
(King Henry VIII)

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was born on July 27, 1977 in Dublin, Ireland.  His first role was in 1994 as the First Young Man in the Man of No Importance.  He followed that up with roles in such films as Velvet Goldmine (1998), Prozac Nation (2001) and Bend it Like Beckham (2002).

Many would say that Bend it Like Beckham would be the film that would give him his first taste of celebrity.  What would break him onto the scene was his unlikely but amazing turn as the King himself, Elvis Presley.  His title role in Elvis (2005) would bring him critical praise and his first award - a Golden Globe.

2005 was a busy year for Jonathan - he also played a pivotal role in the Woody Allen film Match Point.  2006 would bring him commercial success starring alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible III.

Jonathan is now starring as another King - King Henry VIII - on the hit Showtime series The Tudors.  He continues to mesmerize his fans and delight critics with his intense devotion to his craft.
